How to Blur Background in Zoom app

Sometimes it’s best to use Zoom’s new background blur feature to keep your privacy hidden by hiding space behind you during Zoom calls.

This article explains how to blur the zoom background on various operating systems. Since this feature is currently not available on mobile devices, we are offering a solution to achieve blurry background. The FAQ also contains how to upload a photo or video in the background using a virtual background.

  • Change the zoom setting to blur the zoom in Windows 10
  • Blur the background before calling the zoom.
  • Start Zoom and log into your account.
  • Click the Settings gear icon option in the upper right corner.
  • Under “Settings”, select “blur the zoom background and Filters”.
  • Then select the “Blur” option. Your background will be blurry right away.

Blurred background during call Zoom:

Find the bar at the bottom of the meeting screen. Sometimes you have to move the mouse down to view it.

With the chevron facing up, find the Stop Video button.

  • Click the arrow, then click Video Settings> Backgrounds & Filters.
  • Then select the “Blur” option. Your background will be blurry right away.
  • Use Mac to change zoom settings and blur the background
  • Blur the zoom background before calling the zoom.
  • Start Zoom and log into your account.
  • Click the Settings gear icon option in the upper right corner.
  • Under “Settings”, select “Backgrounds and Filters”.
  • Then select the “Blur” option. Your background will be blur right away.
  • Start the Zoom us app on your Android or iOS device.
  • Make sure the video is on, join or create a new meeting.
  • Once the meeting begins, tap anywhere on the screen to view the controls.
  • Click the [Other] button in the lower right corner.
  • Select “Virtual background”.
  • Scroll right and click the plus sign.
  • Select the blurred image on the device and click [Close].

Why is the Background Blur option not showing?

Make sure your computer supports the latest updates

As the blur the zoom feature is part of the latest version of the Zoom client, you will need to download at least client version 5.7.5 on your PC or Mac. To check if you need to update or not:

  1. Start Zoom and log into your account.
  2. Click on your profile picture in the upper right corner.
  3. Then scroll down and select Check for updates to blur the zoom.

If the latest version is installed and the blur option is not available, try turning your computer off and on again after about 5 minutes.

Check if your computer meets the background blur requirements

To use the blur feature, Windows and macOS must support different processors. See the Zoom Help Center for virtual blur the zoom requirements.

A simple way to determine if a computer’s processor is powerful enough:

  1. Start Zoom and log into your account.
  2. Click on your profile picture in the upper right corner.
  3. Select Settings> Backgrounds & Filters.
  4. Uncheck
